RESTORATION OF THE CALIPHAL CISTERN OF THE ALCAZABA (ALMERIA): CHARACTERISATION OF MATERIALS AND EVALUATION OF CONSOLIDATING AGENT

The Aljibe Califal de la Alcazaba de Almería is a half-buried hydraulic construction made up of five naves that was used to make use of rainwater in semi-arid areas such as Almería.

For this project, a series of samples from earth and lime concrete walls present in the Aljibe were analysed. Compositional analyses were carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD). In addition, the surface hardness and surface cohesion of the material were determined using portable equipment.
