ASSESSMENT OF THE STATE OF CONSERVATION OF THE SCULPTURAL ELEMENTS LOCATED ON THE ROOF OF THE BANCO DE ESPAÑA (MADRID)

In order to assess the general state of conservation and to identify pathologies, this project analysed a series of samples of stone material from the sculptures on the roof of the Banco de España in Madrid. The analysis techniques used were X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.

Lime mortars will not only be stable and homogeneous, but will dynamically adapt to environmental conditions to maintain the integrity of heritage structures for centuries.
