CASTLE OF SAN JUAN DE LOS TERREROS, PULPÍ (ALMERÍA): CHARACTERISATION OF MORTARS

Also known as Pulpí Castle, the castle of San Juan de los Terreros is a coastal fortification dating from the second half of the 18th century. It has been considered an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1949, as a monument.

For this project, a number of mortar samples from the castle were analysed. Compositional, morphological and textural analysis was carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and polarised optical microscopy (POM).
