CHARACTERISATION OF PAINT AND MORTAR SAMPLES FROM THE MURAL “VISIÓN DE UNA REALIDAD”, IN TORREMOLINOS
For this project, a series of mortar samples and paint fragments from the mural “Visión de una Realidad” in Torremolinos, also known as Cristo de Padilla, were analysed. This work had been commissioned in 1993 by the Torremolinos Town Hall itself from the artist Padilla. X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques were used for the correct conservation of the work.
Diario Sur in its digital version reports the news: “30 years after the mural was painted in the centre of the town, the Town Hall has repaired the paint and the cracks, considering it an identifying element of the municipality”.
