This solution will combine sustainability, energy efficiency, renewable energy generation and smart monitoring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/teselainnova.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TESELA<\/a> is taking part in this project with the aim of contributing its expertise in advanced materials, nanotechnology, functional coatings and the recovery of industrial waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The construction sector accounts for a significant proportion of global energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. It is therefore necessary to research construction solutions that reduce resource use, improve the energy performance of buildings and facilitate the transition to a more circular economy. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Against this backdrop, the project aims to address some of the sector\u2019s key challenges: reducing its carbon footprint, making use of industrial by-products, replacing potentially toxic substances, and improving the durability and performance of materials used outdoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What technologies will the solution incorporate?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fa\u00e7ade being researched as part of the <strong>REWOODTING projec<\/strong>t will combine different materials and technologies within a single construction solution:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Modular systems that enable faster, more precise and better-controlled installation, whilst reducing the amount of waste generated during installation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Components manufactured from wood and by-products from the timber industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bio-based coatings and nanomaterials with hydrophobic and fire-retardant properties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photovoltaic glass capable of generating renewable energy within the building itself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IoT sensors and tools to monitor the condition of the fa\u00e7ade and facilitate its maintenance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The integration of these technologies will pave the way for more efficient, functional and durable prefabricated fa\u00e7ades. Furthermore, the aim is to reduce both the environmental impact of the materials and the maintenance requirements throughout the buildings\u2019 lifespan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TESELA\u2019s role in the REWOODTING project<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the project, TESELA is leading research into new nano-based coatings and is involved in the development of sustainable components for the construction of the fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specifically, TESELA will focus on two main areas of research:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The formulation of functional coatings containing nano-clays, zinc oxide (ZnO) and titanium dioxide (TiO\u2082), designed to improve the water resistance, fire resistance and ageing resistance of wood-based components.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The development of new composite boards made from cement and wood, incorporating recycled fibres and biomass ash to reduce their environmental impact and promote the use of industrial by-products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new coatings will be assessed to evaluate aspects such as their adhesion, stability, durability, fire resistance and behaviour when exposed to water. Their compatibility with the materials and application procedures used in the construction sector will also be examined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of cement-bonded particle boards, research will be carried out into the incorporation of recycled raw materials and cements with a lower environmental footprint, with a view to maintaining mechanical and thermal performance suitable for use in construction solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A consortium spanning the entire value chain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>REWOODTING project<\/strong> brings together five companies with complementary capabilities: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.finsa.com\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FINSA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nanocel.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NANOCEL<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/teselainnova.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TESELA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/onyxsolar.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ONYX SOLAR<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/zerohousing.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ZEROHOUSING<\/a><\/strong>, in collaboration with the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cetim.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CETIM<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cismadeira.xunta.gal\/es\/cis-madera\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">XERA\u2013CIS Madera centres<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The consortium\u2019s composition enables it to address the entire value chain of the project: from the recovery of by-products from the timber and glass industries to research into new materials, the development of functional coatings and the integration of components into an industrialised fa\u00e7ade on a demonstration scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This collaboration will also facilitate a joint assessment of the technical, environmental and industrial feasibility of the solutions developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Duration, budget and funding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will run from <strong>September 2025 to June 2028<\/strong>, with a total duration of 34 months and an overall budget of <strong>2,272,289 euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">REWOODTING forms part of the <strong>INNTERCONECTA-STEP 2025 call for proposals issued by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI<\/strong>) and is co-financed by the <strong>European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This initiative is in line with European priorities relating to advanced materials, the circular economy, decarbonisation, energy efficiency and the development of clean technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through its involvement in the <strong>REWOODTING project<\/strong>, TESELA is reinforcing its commitment to research into advanced materials and to the development of innovative solutions to move towards more sustainable, safer, more efficient and decarbonised construction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img
