WHAT IS A SPIN-OFF?

Spin-Off companies are business initiatives promoted by members of the university community that ground their activity  on the exploitation of new processes, products or services based on the knowledge acquired and the results obtained in the University itself.

Applied research is the basis of these companies, whose importance lies in the development of new technologies, the creation of quality jobs, the capacity to generate high added value in economic activity and the contribution to regional development.

The creation of technology-based companies in universities is a basic instrument for exploiting the innovative technologies developed in universities. Spin-Offs enable the university community to reap the fruits of their research, generating economic returns to the university that previously invested in research and facilitating the incorporation of graduates to the job market.
