In this project, a sample of fibrocement plate was analyzed to identify the possible presence of asbestos.

As it is well known, this material can generate health and environmental risks, so its identification is crucial to proceed with its removal or isolation.

The techniques used for the characterization were observation by Magnifying Glass-Microscope, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and high resolution Environmental Scanning Electronic Microscopy.

Finally, the use of these techniques allowed us to confirm the presence of asbestos in the sample.

In order to identify the pathologies that were affecting the material, high density concrete cores and epoxy resin samples from Arabia were analysed in this project. The analysis techniques used were X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy, X-ray fluorescence, mercury injection porosimetry and scanning electron microscopy with X-ray microanalysis.
